just quickly guys want to upgrade my R3 from 560m to 580M worth it ? and big difference? also anyone know where i can get them cheap?

Upgrade will be significant. You will see very noticeable performance increase.
-
are the thermal coolers same or does need to change also?

Since you have waited so long, wait a little bit longer until the 680m becomes cheaper and available. Than you can say that is a good upgrade... Unless you can get the 7970m and stick with the 'driver' problem.
If I was you, I wouldn't go for the 580m as of now... By the way 680m it sells for about $800 on ebay... Probably the 580m is about $500 and I believe since you want to change your GPU is worth upgrading to the best as of now... -
Does the 680m actually work well in the R3? I know the 7970m has a boatload of problems. With all the new boost stuff and everything it seems like there is a lot that could be broken with the 680m in an R3. The official word from Dell is that the R3 is not certified for the 680m.

I normally use this for comparison. It seems like it is definitely worth it to do the upgrade. As for the 680m, you are right, we don't have it certified yet and It would then not be recommended for the R3.
