and made some benchmark in MSI Kombustor and got a lazy under 300 score!! i mean, ? what is wrong with my computer? its plugged in and temps arent hot!

    please help me

i don't know what 300 means in that benchmark.

Download 3dmark11 or 3dmark vantage, run the standard free benchmark and post the score here.

i reinstalled drivers (clean install) and left all control panel stuff at "default" and that score went from 300 to 1400, and then oc'ed it in afterburner and its 1680 now (benchmark at MSI Kombustor). seems better now

im currently downloading the 3dmark vantage and ill post right away the scores..

also ive noticed the changes of perfomance when plug or not plugged in while in game, but guess that's normal.. BUT.. while its plugged in, cpu-z shows this value that varies from time to time... is that normal? if not what may cause it?

List you specs in you sig.

Perhaps you are using the intel gnu.

Have you checked your nvidia control panel ?

    Plugged in?

    Power set to high performance?

    score at benchmark 3dmark Vantage:

    P6878 3DMarks

    ive updated my sign. check

    edit:
yes plugged in, unless it accidentally unplugs. what should i specifically check on my nvidia control panel? its on "let 3d app decide" and most of stuff are in default. stereoscopic 3d is enabled.

you are in the ballpark for your overclocked 460m so i think you are ok now

Your CPU score is very low. Have you turned speedstep off or something?

that is good to hear, anything else i should know? maybe about the voltage in cpu-z..dunno

err not that i am aware? how to check that? darn i hate issues :p

    edit:

i just checked about speedstep.. its enabled, and from my guess.. that is what causes the voltage to vary. its like a energy-saver thing, aight?

the voltage on CPU-z will bounce around because of the way turbo works on your core i7. When its under load, you should see the CPU voltage go up (and also the subsequent increase in multiplier and CPU mhz)

This isn't something to worry about

    yes correct.

It acts funny sometimes. widezu69 said your CPU score is low because 3dmark reported your CPU speed at 2.3ghz instead of much higher. The 2720 can turbo to 3.3ghz. But the turbo has a mind of its own sometimes. It is very dependent on heat and power. So check your CPU temps and voltage while doing a cpu stress test with say something like prime95

then log your temps with something like coretemp to a txt file so you can view it after.

temperature issues? gpu never went higher than 65.. not that i remember any higher value, and i think that's ok. (30 room temp, no a/c on plus no cooling artifact.) so i guess im fine :p

    or not? any recommendations?

no no...he mentioned your low CPU speed (not GPU) so you have to look at your CPU temps. I don't know how the turbo works though...that is, at what temps it starts to pull back

ooh ok ill take a look at it! any recommended app for monitoring temps?

    edit:
    i like HWmonitor, but i'd like a graph, not just min-max =\

What the hell? How did you get your clocks so high?? I can only run stable at 815/1630/1500

the two apps i use for CPU monitoring are Coretemp and realtemp. I don't know if either offers a graph though

Is your CPU turbo disabled? I'm only saying because your CPU score is around 6k when it should be near 20k.

What drivers did you use? What is the process for a clean install? I have been wanting to play the BF3 beta.

well maybe i had wrong drivers for cpu, so reinstalled using the ones from dell. gotta make another benchmark and see how it goes.

by clean install i meant nvidia drivers it offers a "clean install" box before installing. guess it removes any files and registry keys and then reinstall (this worked a lot for me)

swell its set like that for a while and so far i dont see any troubles in graphics, staggering nor temp. ive been playing black ops for like 3 hours now, and this is the temp-records

    edit:
also tried prime 95 torture test for about 10 min:

temp doesnt go any higher than that, still i believe my cpu isnt doing all its work its supposed to do! =(

Funny, it only reads your CPU as having 2 cores instead of 4?

yeah why is that? at task manager - set affinity it shows the 4 cores, but those programs.. just dont. is there any way i can check any bad drivers and reinstall or something? its my only guess..
