Well i just installed my 3920xm and was cleaning out all the fans and heatsinks and when i installed everything back in the GPU fan ran sporadically like a bad connection and i messed around with it with no success. It now hasn't started up at all for several hours so i went into iGPU mod so i can get homework done and not fry my 7970m. Anyone have any ideas why it died? If i just need to get a new one what is the best way to contact dell. I have heard people on here getting dell to just send them the parts to fix it and that would be really nice because i can't afford to send it in.

Also how do i buy another bottom panel from dell? I want to start drilling holes into it :)

    Thanks
    HF

Firs off if you are still under warranty call up alienware support give them your service tag and they will ask you to update the bios etc to see if that fixes the fan. It probably won't. Then ask them to just overnight you a gpu fan because you opened the machine up and can tell it's clearly not spinning. Second you can also ask them how much a bottom case would be to buy because yours has some damaged feet or whatever. Make up a story and they might give it to you for free. The latter I have done but this was because I had accidental damage coverage and it wasn't a story I made up I just said opening it it was damaged I need a new one. The bottom plate that is.
