Hi Guys. So, i bought some compressed air to clean put the inside of my R3. Removed back panel and sprayed at the fans to remove the dust. All went well. Untill i switched it back on. Now my running temps are around 92C when playing mass Effect 3 and 72C when just browsing the net etc etc. At it highest it went to 102C and i got a message saying AMD driver has stopped working.

    What have i done?

The highest it ever got when playing was 75C MAX. usually around 64C when idle or browsing net.

Also check the power leads/connectors to the fans. They can be inadvertently dislodged during cleaning or other internal activity. Be sure each is firmly seated and that each of the leads is intact.

Ok so i removed the fans, and its seems, like an idiot, i blocked the heat exchanger vents, hence the high temps.

    Thanks for input. +rep.

I'm curious to know what you mean by blocked the heat exchanger vents. I just want to know so I can avoid making the same mistake. :)

    Sure.

When i decided to clean it, i did a rather half arsed job of it. I tool the back cover off and just sprayed the air around a bit. Particularly over the GPU fan and CPU fan. Anyway, what this did was force all the dust down the fan and into the grill below the copper heat sinks, blocking it almost completely. You'll see it when you remove the fans. Its literally a grill that directs the airflow across the heat sink to remove the heat.

Anyway, moral of the story. If your gonna do it, do it right. Remove both fans before blowing compressed air around :D

haha Thanks for that! I'll be sure to take out the fans next time I clean out my heat sinks!
