Today I got an AW 17 R1 with an 120Hz Screen. I also have a Clevo 980m(84.04.2F.00.79) and an M4000m. Both work in a Clevo P751DM but not in the AW17. Bios is set to full UEFI. With M4000m I can install windows and everything is fine until I install a modded Nvidia driver. After installation the screen stays black. And with 980m the screen stays black from the beginning.
Anyone who has a solution?

I had trouble trying to get GTX 1070 to work in my M17x R4, only the MSI one would work.
The 980M should be able to be flash via Windows no?

I didn‘t flash another VBIOS. But I can flash it in my P751dm. So you mean only an MSI VBios will work with 120Hz Panel?

Maybe a different vBIOS could be worth a try if nothing else work.
What make is your quadro by the way?

The Quadro also didn’t work. Can go in Bios and installing windows with standard GPU driver is ok. After Nvidia driver black Screen. There is a Dell VBios on it. But that’s the only Bios which will work with the most Laptops. Original HP VBios didn‘t work.

So the Load Legacy Option ROM is disabled in the BIOS?
Are you sure you modded the driver properly? The newer drivers have Windows 10 and 11 compatibility so there are two lists of ID's where you can add your machines ID. Just make sure you change a line in both lists just to make sure you have the correct OS. This wouldn't stop the 980M from posting a display without a drive though.SMGJohn likes this. -
Load legacy is disabled.
With 980m I got a black screen from the start. So I can‘t mod anything. I mean the M4000m. But there I prepared every line which I found. -
Very strange. Does the Clevo use eDP or LVDS? I have an Aetina 970M in my M18x and these won't work in an eDP machine, only LVDS. I tried and tried to get it to work in a 17 with 120Hz but I could only get a black screen.

I haven't read about a clevo card working in the ranger personally. Msi, zotac, Dell for the ranger I haven't seen clevo yet but I don't have my ear to the ground on this stuff as much anymore

Then maybe that’s your problem. You need to try it in an LVDS laptop and see if it works. I’m not sure if a vBIOS change will help if this is the problem

I changed the VBios and the first 3-4 times I got a pic. But now I have a black screen again. Strange thing. And I think it’s not an original Clevo Card.
