Im thinking about upgrading from a 460m to a 580m because of how easy the install looks with no BIOS alterations.

As far as the heatsink i would think everything would be plug and play? also

As far as the performance differences, what should i expect!?

580m is about twice as strong as the 460m, not sure about the other stuff as i am not an alienware owner

At least 50-70% difference according to most benchmarks.
I believe all of them use the same heatsink but it depends on your system's revision.

better off getting a new heatsink I believe as Dell released a new heatsink to counter the throttling issue?? Not sure what the difference is though.
