Sorry if this is the incorrect spot for this thread but I figured since it related to the Alienware crew here, namely the M17x and M18x peoples, that it might seem appealing. :D Certainly is to me. ^_^

Even more amazing is that the GTX 675MX is going for only $475, which is the full on Eurocom upgrade kit that's sold with the 7970M and the 680M.

The GTX 670MX is going for $375 at that, so it's well worth the sale price if anyone is up for snagging a new GPU for their R2s. :D I'll be grabbing one soon for sure. ^_^

    Happy hunting! :D

how does it compare to other laptop cards? Just curious If it would be worth grabbing one in place of this 6990m.

Ugh, upgradeyourlaptop/Eurocom sells bad cards...so many people who bought cards from them now have dead cards.

looks to be around 20% faster than my 6990m according to notebookcheck.com. Decisions decisions. Think im gonna buy a 2920xm instead though as my CPU is getting dated. :p

from all the benchmarks i've seen so far, a single 670 is about the same as cf 5870's. which really to me isn't worth the upgrade.

find me a card that will take my 5870's CF score, and double it with a single card, then i'll drop the money and upgrade.
till then it's just a waste of money IMO.

670m is a different card than the 675mx and 670mx. Both of these cards are based on the newer architecture and offer significantly more performance than their older, more power hungry brothers. ;)

Edit: According to notebookcheck.com, you would be getting around 17% more performance if you upgraded to the 675mx which I agree is not much of an upgrade.

On the new iMacs the upgrade from 675MX to 680MX is only $150. Knowing how much Apple enjoys overcharging for upgrades, that leads me to believe that the actual price difference will be closer to $100.

The difference is that your lower FPS won't be so low. That and your power draw will be cut in half. My 6970M does what both your 5870Ms do without an issue.

One big card is always better than two smaller cards linked together. The 675MX would be a very welcome upgrade from your setup. :p Either that or the 7970M.

Meaning if apple is only charging "only" $150 more for the 680mx, it will not cost "an arm and a leg" vis-a-vis the 675mx on the open market.

The text was refrering to an imac ipgrade, not an Alienware one.

I see too many threads were one person says something and the whole topic is lost for like 25 pages :)
