why is alienware and xoticpc listing geforce gtx 675m as an upgrade and that cost more than HD 7970m when the 7970m is the much faster and better card of the two?

Can something more expensive with less power be considered an upgrade? Sure.

If they listed cards by power with the price increments next to them, they would lose alot of money.

It's an unfortunate marketing ploy that preys on the uninformed.

I think it has to do with the 3d option as you need an Nvidia card to do it.

I would not be surprised if Nvidia pays to make it look like they have the superior card and have it listed that way.

It's not hard, they just have to charge more for it than AMD is the 7970M :).

Amd cards have typically been cheaper than nvidia cards. Always do some research before buying a new machine. Especially an expensive, high performance gaming machine.
