i Used the old M17X R1 full display assembly no changing of the internals.
all i did was upgrade the motherboard of a M17x R1 to a M17X R2 with some changes to the cpu cooler.

same here i installed a 970m into an alienware m17x r2. I am getting the inverted colors like everyone else. Did anyone try the msi vbios? the card I have, was taken directly out of a Clevo P377SMA. so i shouldn't have to flash any vbios, right? all ideas are welcomed

I tried all possible vBIOS until I broke the card. MSI vBIOS were also tried.

It's been a while since I have been on this forum, but am surprised to see so many people still owning their M17x-R2s much less trying to install the 970/980 nvidia cards in them. I am considering upgrading my cpu but probably not to 970/980, what's the highest that can be done before the 970/980? How close to it can these laptops go?

The best video card is probably the 7970, there is a thread about how high you can upgrade the M17x R2.
