Hi, I'm new to laptops but really happy to have my first one, an Alienware R3!. I've been really pleased, the usual windows annoyances, but a great laptop.![]()
Thought I'd post as I decided to install the latest 280.26 drivers, had to use the modded ones from the forum as the nvidia ones come up with the 'hardware incompatible' message and I'd read that the 280.26 drivers gave a noticeable improvement.
So, I downloaded and installed, chose easy install and it went fairly smoothly, said one file was older than the one I already had so chose to replace that and went ahead.
All seemed ok, but I found I had lost 3D!, all I could get on setting it up was anaglyphic 3D, no matter what I enabled in nvidia control panel just silly red and green 3D![]()
It was 1am, I wasnt happy, I had a good trawl through the forum and on Google, and their were quite a few people with the same problem, but also some with the same specs having no problems.
A few peeps posted, but all the threads I came across, there were no answers.![]()
So as I have got it going I thought I would post what I've done, maybe it will help someone else
Anyway, I decided before trying to reinstall the old drivers, was to try and install again,.. this time I installed under 'custom' and chose 'clean install'. Maybe I should have done this all along, but this time it went into safe mode as it should have done, some worrying messages about hardware not being installed correclty and then being installed correctlyas it installed new drivers.,... but it worked!

Tested 3D, it was back! and with the new drivers. Despite being 130am I playyed crysis 2 (Blackfires mod Dx11, Ultra, HD textures etc) at All maxxed in 3D,..nice and smooth. The 3D effect seemed stronger,..maybe it was me. Anyway pleased![]()
I hate video drivers![]()
