So just wondering how many of you out there use game booster or something similar. Do you notice a difference when gaming?

Pretty much a waist of time and computer space.

It does help a bit. Game Booster is no longer free though so use Gboost instead. And it apparently does it better anyway.

? seems like a gimmick to me. sorta like task killer for android phones...

a clean install/system with less programs in the background would probably achieve the same thing?

their "example video" is also just "simulated" lol... which means it could just be anything...

i watched a couple vids on youtube, there were alot that showed 0 gains (FPS wise) and there were a few that showed minimal gains. those minimal gains can be anything though, it could just be environmental temperature(causing throttling) for all we know. or a hidden process it turned off that should have been off to begin with.

IMO, a properly set up and clean computer > GBoost.

IMHO, its good in theory, but as zero2005 stated a clean install with nothing else really installed would be better. Currently, that what I have done with my gaming machine - base windows 7 and driver install - no AV or anything else to hinder anything.

My laptop will be my main surfer though - so it will have AV and etc on it.

I'm with zero on this one. There is no such thing as a "miracle cure" to help resolve gaming problems. If you want your gaming system to perform well, then only use it for such. Divert other background tasks like P2P and file transfers to lower end computers.

currently im using game booster beta v3. I feel better when using it simply becuase it stops windows services like printing and programs running in the background like my webcam driver and stuff.
i tried gboost and it was simple to use.

however i would like to configure my m17x for pure gaming can anyone help out?
what i mean is which windows services are safe to disable and what other things should i do?

and i was wondering how many of you just game on your system as it is. or do you configure it by disabling services etc.

With the computer that you have, you definately should not need game booster.

Game booster only frees up a bit of RAM and CPU from the background tasks.

Other than that, it is pointless. Be careful too, as most of the programs don't start back up after you stop the game boosting.

Disabling services is tricky and dependent on how you want to use your PC. There are sites that can help you with this issue and are quite detail. That would be your best bet. However, I'm not sure if gaining a few resources back is worth all that hassle? You're not going to gain much, if at all.

If at the end you think you need to have a streamline Windows then I like to suggest using nLite or similar program to minimize your installations in the future.
