it happens on some of the other games too, but the most recent one is skyrim. I am not sure what exactly the problem is, but i think the game is only using 1 of my GPUs. what i see happening when im playing a game is that only one of the GPU gets hot, right around 90 degrees, while the other stays cool, around 40 degrees. this does not happen on other games, such as battlefield 3. i am using the first m17x.

    my specs are:
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 2.0 Ghz
    Dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260m
    4GB of RAM

can someone please tell me what im doing wrong? and please no arrow to the knee jokes...

    What drivers are you using?

You could download evga precision and run it while playing skyrim.
When you exit the game look to see the gpu utilisation on the evga precision window. You can set this program up to make it overlay on screen whilst playing a game too.

I use it to show my temps whilst playing.

Dual GPU on skyrim has just recently been delivered, before the latest drivers of Nvidia and ATI there were lots of problems with skyrim and SLI/Crossfire, however there are still lots of issues regarding GPU scaling in this game, search the net for more information about this...

yup negyuh hit the nail on the head...the issue is GPU scalling. If you look at the pic, GPU 1 @ 93% but GPU 2 is only at 29%. Unfortunately, it is 100% a driver and game engine issue

Wow your gpu1 is hot on that pic!! I'm surprised the laptops not shutting down after prolonged gameplay.
