Ok so I am wondering what gamepads will work wirelessly with my R3 for say Witcher 2, Crysis 2, etc. Best places to get them.

I recommend that too , I have the wired xbox one and it has built in support in a lot of games. No settings just plug and play.

I have the Same wired one, it def is awesome for AC 2 and brotherhood. The plug and play is the best feature, unlike the PS3 one which needs a little workaround to work.

Alternatively, if you already have a PS3, take a look at MotionInJoy which will enable you to use a PS3 controller with your M17x.

(I use it, it's great but it was a little temperamental to set up initially)

The Xbox controller is the perfect gamepad, and out of the Xbox controllers, the Razer Onza Tournament is definitely king. I plan on getting one this summer (for the Xbox as much as my PC).

I wouldn't even go there. It is extremely temperamental on a 64-bit system. Far too much hassle just to use your PS3 controller.

When I say it's damned annoying to set up, I truly mean it.

Using Motionjoy now is a no brainer now that the drivers are signed .

It emulates the 360 perfectly and its alot smaller to tote around with the machine plus it works with Bluetooth so no need for long cables nor gigantic dongles hanging off the machine .

There's been a hell of a lot of improvements from when I tried it, then. If the drivers are signed then most of the hassle should be removed.

I'd still personally rather have a 360 controller, I prefer the bulkier asymetric design. But that's just me.

Another shout out for the xbox controller if you want a gamepad. Games just set themselves up and work perfectly, no need to map buttons for every game.

As for motion in joy, yea, the last time I used it, oh MAN did I have a ton of issues. If it syncs up to windows via bluetooth without any hassle I may have to revisit it again.

Yeah I much prefer the 360 controller, just fits my monkey hands better lol, plus for shooters being military, I like to have a trigger to pull. I know may seem odd but it feels more natural for me.

Go for the Onza then I just can't justify buying another controller since I don't own an XBOX 360 and i already have the wired one for PC. If it was out when I was buying one I would have def gotten the Onza.

I have gotten my friends PS3 controller to work Via Bluetooth on my laptop using motionjoy, but it was tempermental. If everything is fixed then it should be alot easier to do it now.

I keep running into this on the forums when I see people talking about certain things working, and then realize they are using an R1 or R2, so it may not be the same in some situations with mah R3...

Honestly i prefer the 360 controller overall as well but for a laptop and travelling etc the PS3 controller just works best for me since its much smaller and the lack of a Dongle or a cord just wins in the end ..

Everything works swimmingly compared to when it was first released and now its only a matter of installing the app then the driver at which point just enable 360 controller emulation and your on your way .

Talking Playstation controllers, here is a very nice guide how to connect and use DualShock3 with W7:

How to Use a Playstation 3 Controller in 64 bit Windows 7 and Vista

The drivers are stable and work well. When you are set you can indeed enable xbox 360 controller mode for games that natively support that controller.

LOL, in my email updates you typed "you fools" instead of "you guys". I wouldn't have been offended, and prolly would've read it as "you fooz", as in "you dudes".

Motionjoy takes care of everything. What a bunch of us are trying to figure out is how to use the PS3 controller wirelessly (via internal BT). USB has been confirmed for aeons.

Indeed. If you have a PS3 controller lying around, I'd recommend trying MotionInJoy before you look at buying another controller.

Yep, but it seemed to interfere with WiFi sometimes (completely lose WiFi connection until MIJ over bluetooth is disabled) so I ended up buying a cheap bluetooth dongle from Amazon that works more reliably.

I used my Kensington micro Bluetooth dongle on the R3. Most of the laptops i have owned(a ton) worked right out of the box with Motionjoy but a few required a dongle because it was not compatible with the internal one.

You can get some super cheap ones that work fine for as little as .99 so its not a huge deal and still IMHO the best alternative if you want to tote a controller around with your machine .

eBay has cheap ones as well.

Tablet as a mouse???? WHAAAAAAA?? My gf's sister has one that she never uses (she was an art major). Can you elaborate on how it works?

This guy ( http://forums.ngemu.com/1833794-post8.html) says that this one works : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001EBE1LI/ref=home?ie=UTF8&m=A3V6BK4D0HKA8F, and it's only 30cents + $3shipping. Hit or miss reviews though... Motionjoy does have this list for compatible BT dongles though: http://www.motioninjoy.com/wiki/en/help/btcompatibility

However, I've got the IOGear one as well and that works perfectly.

Good luck and let us know how you go !

It takes some getting used to to use a tablet as a mouse. I just set my tablet to pen mode and I just move it around. I use my tablet for everything, web, world of Warcraft, fps, etc. Since my wrist hurts from using a reg mouse.

Oh and, animation major here =p

Best bet is the XBox360 controller. There are several games that doesn't work properly even if it does use other controllers. But unless u want these games, I say any of the PS2/PS3 controllers are good.

I so recommend installing drivers if there are any. My wacom plugged in without drivers is very clunky. Plus it's nice to map functions to your pen buttons and control sensitivity and all. Most importantly there is a learning curve. Unless your wrists hurt from using a reg mouse, I don't recommend gaming with a tablet.
