I am trying to get more into gaming (been busy a lot with work), and just got bioshock. It isn't hard to play with the mouse on the laptop, but just cramps up my hands. I am debating whether a gaming mouse is worth it (I have a basic microsoft intelli mouse, but it's broke and has a wire that is pretty worn out, still works though), or getting a laptop cooler? I know two different things, but I only have a price for one right now. Also, I can only buy from Dell atm since that's where all my credit is for my gift certificate. If I can keep the price below 75 bucks, that would be great! I do own the M17x. I play Half Life, Crysis 3, Dead Space, Bioshock: Infinite, Resident Evil, etc.

I would recommend Coolermaster U3 for the laptop cooler. I own one for my M17X and it works great. Also very cheap.
    Cooler Master Notepal U3 Laptop / Notebook Cooling Pad, Up to 19" (3 x 80mm Configurable Fans) - Newegg.com

I would also recommend the Razer Mouse.
This is the one I own: RAZER DeathAdder 2013 RZ01-00840100-R3U1 Black Mouse - Newegg.com

I plan to upgrade mine when I get back from deployment but for now it works great. I know they aren't Dell but they are both very cheap to purchase.

As for which one to buy first. I would purchase a mouse first. A stock out of box laptop has all the hardware needed to cool your laptop for the time being. So, I'd wait on the laptop cooler untill you have sufficient funds. :D

Hi, I havn't tried any gaming mice so I can't say how much better one would be but I started to get problems with my fingers after a few hours of FPS gaming and thought i'd give the x-box controller a try. Since most titles are now multi-platform the controller support appears to be in all of them I've tried. Aiming is not as easy as a mouse but I got used to it and love not having to look for those less used keystrokes :)

Always a KB and mouse player for many years!

Thank you very much guys! I appreciate the input, however I posted links and am only limited to Dell.com sadly. If there are any recommendations for both, let me know. I do enjoy mice that are both comfortable and (yes superficial) I like them to be nice looking as well.

I'd get the alienware tactx mouse personally might as well having a matching mouse to go with your laptop :). The coolers might be a tad small or not have moveable fans which would annoy me.

For the Dell links you posted I would go with HD3 Gaming Chill Mat - Black : Computer Components | Dell
for the cooling mat, as you can place the fans wherever they are needed which is great about the Coolermaster U3.

As for the mouse, I can't really have a valid opinion as to which one I'd choose. However, I would recommend the purchase of a mouse first over a cooler mat.

Yeah I'm more toward the mouse.. but I am indecisive, so that's why I'm asking here. I just want something comfortable with a right hand, and something that looks cool as well for a decent price. I saw that TactX mouse, it looked really cheaply built on a YouTube video and plastic-y. I really dug the Razer Mamba, but saw some pretty horrid reviews. Dell doesn't carry that anymore, unfortunately.

Did I read it wrong, or have you been playing with the laptop trackpad? that is an accomplishment in itself.

I wouldn't get the TactX at that price (it goes on sale for $40 not too rarely), especially since the G700 is only $10 more.

And as everyone else said, mouse first, cooler pad second. You could use bottle caps to prop the laptop up in the meantime, which actually isn't much worse than a cooler.

The only thing you may find with the U3 is the size is huge, it does not fit in most laptop bags and you will be carrying it around on the side. The other downfall just in my experience is I am on my 3rd set of fans for the thing and it has been a nightmare trying to get replacements from Coolermaster ( The wiring keeps crapping out ) , even though I have been buying them outright and not using warranty. Just an FYI.

I found the Alienware mouse way to small for my hands I used a Cyborg RAT7 after that while comfortable the mouse tracking would go from being spot on to very jumpy even with clean eyes. switched to a Razer Naga and am very happy I use it for everything from DoTA 2 to Bf3 and the number pad on the side is great for mapping all the keystrokes.

If your limited to Dell's site try the G700.

I use the Cooler Master SF-19 for a laptop cooler it works great but is huge. the U3 would work great but would not be comfortable to have sitting on your lap.

Actually read that somewhere else, and using it now. Not much of a temperature change, but that's okay. Any mice on the site that you may recommend for under $75-90? I have never used an overly huge mouse, so that may be a bit strange to me. But if everyone's happy with it, I'm down for whatever. I looked at the g700.. it looks if it's amazing I can go for up to 100? You can search for anything, and it may not be labeled gaming mouse on the site. Want something that looks great, feels good, and is a great mouse.

It looks too big and has too many buttons* I don't play many mmo's, I'd only be playing FPS's and some third person games.

Edit: Ok, I now have a tossup and can't decide between the 3:

Alienware Tactx vs Logitech G700 vs Logitech Performance MX

I bought the Coolermaster U3 and it's great.
    I use it without fans.
