Think a lot of us are a little gun shy. I promised my AW rep I would not use a new NV driver for at least a month after release. Only polite to do so since he arranged a replacement of my card next day from me calling :D

Be good to hear some reports though, especially from 680m/3D users that were told a vBIOS update would be needed, maybe not - just a delay tactic?

Yeah, I'm following that thread. You know you want to, which one are you using ATM?

I can say that the overvolt that destroyed so many cards vanished with the last beta, and that has been around since the release of the 3xx series. Just took a little unwanted 'boost' to push older cards over the brink...

Like most people, I'm still on 314.22 WHQL.

Just realised, though, I'll need a modified file to install them. From memory, it's j95 that usually posts it, isn't it?

This driver's working well for me, no issues so far. Benchmarks 3DMark11 the same as the previous Beta driver. Works fine with Far Cry 3 (only one I've played since).

    Found it: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...7xr4-3d-screen-780m-anyone-5.html#post9339787

Many thanks to j95 if you read this! :)

EDIT: Might not try it for a few days, though, as I'm still closely monitoring things after overclocking my 2960XM. I don't want to introduce anything else new to my system at the moment.

Installed 326.80 as soon as it posted..no issues at all my 3DMARK11 score only changed by 40 other words didn't. But in game much more fluid and raised the fps on Neverwinter and Skyrim. 60+ steady max on Neverwinter and 100 to 200 ultra on Skyrim. less artifacts displayed in game mater of fact I have had none to date. I am liking this driver so far very much seems very stable. Plus I just loaded it over the old one and let Nivida remove it. Bad habit from ATI , I know but have had no problem with the new 17 and have done that on the last two driver installs. Go figure

That's really good to hear. I got used to just upgrading the NV and keeping all my settings but recent drivers have been like the bad old days.

I wasn't expecting any real gains, the last beta, where the overvolt was fixed, had exactly the same game FPS results as 314.22. More about getting it stable for the next round of drivers I think. Will be a new full release #

I'm thinking when this goes WHQL I'll be able to close out the thread I started with 320.18 burning cards :D

Installed on my system with the GTX 680m (780m is currently retired) and 3D display. I can confirm no black screen. Primary display is detected and works like the 314.22 drivers. Recommended.

going back to stock vbios allows me to use 3D

I've exeprienced the first problem with this driver.

When the laptop is waking up, windows 8 says that i'mrunning at low resolution, but when i check, i'm still at 1920*1080.

When i launch fear 3, i'm on windowed mode and cannot use the full screen.

    After a reboot, it's fixed :)

@widezu69: Is the vbios in the first post of that thread suitable for a Dell-branded 4GB GTX680M in an m17x r3? The thread talks about MSI and Clevo a lot, but doesn't really mention Dell or Alienware.

Do you really have a 4GB GTX 680m? Because as far as I know, Dell only made a 2GB one.

I'm using A10 because it was easier to flash. Also are you changing your mobo? Are you having issues or simply upgrading? I'd have uses for an R3 mobo...

Looks like a Clevo/Sager card which has the dell vBIOS. The default core clock turbo for official 2GB dell 680ms are 758mhz.

Thanks for the info. So which vbios is most suitable for my card for overclocking, whilst maintaining m17x r3 compatibility? Is it the one in widezu69's Tech Inferno thread linked a few posts ago?

    (apologies for hijacking the thread)

I don't think you will have any issues with any vBIOS (clevo or dell), the techinferno guys made a good vBIOS are good if you need to overclock above the +135mhz limit. (I can hold 888mhz easy, but I rather keep it standard for now). I could be wrong though, but any vBIOS should be ok since you won't have optimus working anyways.

The mobo is fine, the 780m has issues with the IDT integrated sound card 'blank screen' R4's creative not the case ?.. extra mSATA port + 2 SATA III ports, so A11 BIOS requires the extra steps, I'll need a couple of weeks for the new mobo mainly for testing, the current one never had issues...lucky.

Use this one Downloads don't flash the Dell vBIOS it's for 2GB cards only and follow this guide [GUIDE] NVIDIA VBIOS flashing or here (riskier) http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/672230-m17x-r3-680m-compatability-63.html#post9038829
It will read 1028=Dell but the card is still1558 Clevo, you will see that when flashing using nvflash.

326.80 best driver since 314.22 blank screen 120Hz / logon black screen fixed.

I flashed svl7's vBIOS that you linked to, installed the new 326.80 drivers, and overclocked from 758MHz to 915MHz:

    GPU-Z 680M-OC.jpg

The amazing thing is that my GPU temps don't go above 66°C when running the Bioshock Infinite benchmark!

+1 rep to j95 and DDDenniZZZ for your help on this.
