Just tried it out. Since it mentions DIRT showdown as a big gain (15%) I just went for that in-game bench. On 314.22 Avg 32fps, this one: Avg 39fps (all maxed). So now for stability and some Hitman :D

Dell version GTX 780m's need a inf mod. Coming after the break.

Update: For people with Dell OEM GTX 780m's. Extract the driver and let it fail to find compatible hardware. Then go to:

    C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\327.23\Win8_WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver

And find nvdmn.inf and replace it with this one here:

    https://app.box.com/s/6a73qlr4xjh3pst948h4

Your install should go smoothly now. Nothing else has been changed in the inf file apart from adding support for the card.

I didn't have to do any of that. Mine worked straight away (though I did all that driver fusion and ccleaner before installing it) with no issues whatsoever...

Well WHQL doesn't really mean much really but I'm going to try this again anyway LOL . Surely 314.22 can't be the last driver that will ever work on my 580 :)

Still some freezing issues with Firefox but not as bad as the other 260's . Games running fine. Firefox has an update BTW. Just froze again as I type and fan ramps up when it does. Maybe not yet :/ Back to 314 :)

Rolled back ! i played BF3 for a while and all seemed well. did not see any spikes and temps stayed around 60C. voltage remained under 1V.

Left it idle for a while as i chatted away on the phone. Came back about an hour later, and saw GPU idling at 70C and clock at 800Mhz. made sure nothing was running ! I just din't feel safe !

    rolled back to 314.22

Seems to run at the same temps as 314.22 while gaming for me; I'll have to let it sit and test idle.

Sadly, still no HDMI in fix for those running it on Win 8 yet :(

Could you elaborate on that? I just got my Alienware 17 with 120hz 3D screen, but with the stock drivers I cannot seem to get 3D vision to work... When I try to go to the 3D vision wizard, I don't get the option to use the built-in 3D emitter. It only gives me the option to use an external emitter or cabled glasses. Is this fixed with the new drivers?

Check the display type dropdown in the driver, it should say 'alieneware 3d vision notebook'. Sometimes I see it default to 'discover' mode. Mine did this when I installed this driver...

If this is OK then you should call in to get them to troubleshoot it - while on stock driver.

Thanks for helping me! However, I couldn't quite find the dropdown menu you mentioned. I see this screen when I try to run the installationwizard via Nvidia control panel (sorry for the dutch in the screenshot):

Once you check the 'enable' box (in your second pic) you should then be able to change the display type. Then the wizard should go through correctly.

Hmm, I guess I need to contact Dell, because when I check the enable box, the wizard starts (with the same options as before). I'll try to reinstall my drivers first though. Thanks

Yeah a re-install is what I was going to suggest next. You should see it installing the 3D components and the USB emitter should be visible in device manager: usb1.JPG

If not then put the original driver on before calling dell as they will only work on their releases.

Alright, I don't see the 3D emitter in device manager, so I guess that clarifies why the wizard can't see the thing. I'll re-install, thanks for the advice! Much appreciated.

    many thanks for the info!

sadly, they dont do shipping to india
there are some international re sellers but the total cost at the end comes out to be more than double! due to import taxes and stuff

here, local re sellers, have the whole 3d vision 2 kit(for desktops with 3d monitors, emitters and stuff)

Great! It should have worked as the 680m is a listed card with the R4. If your unlocked vBIOS reported a different OEM then that may have been a cause but...onwards :D
