For laptops in general, is it always the same hassle of getting updated drivers from the manufacturer's site? Alienware driver support is horrific, the R3 had maybe 3 sections that got updated once, and trying to get drivers from the hardware manufacturers seems to result in installation conflicts and BSODs. Is it the same with Sager, MSI, etc.? Is it the price we pay for owning laptops?

The drivers in the Dell´s support website are proven to be stable on a certain platform. But you can always use the latest drivers from the manufacturer´s website. Perform clean video driver installation to avoid conflicts during and after the installation.
