Aws im newbie @ benching , neways good luck with it bro . Im reverting back to the 10.5s until this is fixed .
-
I just installed the official 10.7 from the amd website using the workaround=true and clearing everything with driversweeper, install went smooth and flickering seems to be gone in every game i have tested (mw2 suffered horribly and now seems to be fine), however i have noticed fps drop in battlefield bad company 2 as well, if anyone has a solution please keep me updated
-
Hey can you check with the sleep mode and let me know if it wakes up properly ?
Thanks. -
Mine has the same problem with sleep, screen turn off. It requires hard boot.
I have disabled sleep and screen off and so far no problems but I think I will revert back until fixed. -
Im sure its not the display that isnt turning on since the num lock keys wont work too.
-
I've tried both, they both have the exact same problem.
-
I stated before that the sleep issue is fixed..
The betas are also newer than the official release.Just make sure you clear out previous drivers thoroughly
before installing. These are the best so far for me.
-
Wow i wont mind going for a complete format n reinstall if you are damn sure its my installation thats causing this and not the 10.7 drivers.
Edit :-
Dnt help
-
I thought I had sleep mode disabled, however I actually left the computer and it went to sleep and I had to hard boot to get it to respond, so it's not fixed. There's no difference between the beta and the release 10.7' except that it doesn't have OpenGL 2.0 support. They're both Driver version 8.753
-
Yea i just checked same issue here, if computer sleeps i need to hard reboot
-
Better to stick to 10.5 or never let it sleep.
-
sleep/wake issue is fixed for me, thats for sure..
-
Upon further examination it seems like the computer is not even entering sleep mode, usually with unsupported drivers the problem is the laptop is unable to come out of sleep, that along with the bfc2 dramatic framerate drop makes these 10.7's a dud, they fixed the flickering and managed to ruin other things. I guess i will be forced to restore back to the dell drivers once again..
-
can you describe the exact steps you took to do your install or any other details in order to get sleep working, also if you have bfc2 can you test your frame rate
-
From this i assume you were using the 10.6 / 10.5 drivers n sleep was buggy . Then the 10.7 fixed it up ?
Since both 10.6 n 10.7 have the sleep bug on mine. The only ones that do good are the dells drivers. -
Either with sleep or simply when the screen is off, I can confirm it halts.
-
Gflyer1 u got 4870's or 5870's ?
-
And this is why I think I will wait for new nVidia GPUs in M17x - sorry but when I read this thread I know ATI/AMD did not improve over the last 5 years when it comes down to drivers.
-
i also noticed my temps under full load reduce which is nice to see, unfortunately everything else is broken
-
Nathan the nvidia r1 had so many issues of their own, and if an nvidia model is released again i am sure dell will manage to get something wrong as they have proven..
-
it really wasn't because of the nvidia GPUs. The nvidia chipset was to blame. Plenty of people with 4870 R1's experienced the DPC latency issues. 285s or 460s/480s in an R2 would be just fine. In any case, now we're 3 months without a working driver, which is just pathetic. Any faith I had left is depleted at this point.
-
How long does the WHQL driver usually take compared to the beta/official release?
Also who makes the "certification"? ATI, Microsoft? -
It's unfortunate that some people are having problems with 10.7. Regardless, I'm sure there are many people out there that have benefited from this as well. Any problems that existed before are now gone for me.
-
So far this driver works fine for me.I booted on battery fine and I was able to put the machine to sleep and wake it with no issue.
-
ATi has to send the driver to MS who digitally signs it as being 'safe for use'
-
Then its an issue with the dual 5870s only ?
-
Remember that it also seems a lot of people that have the problems do because they probably have some conflict in between the driver that was installed prior to them installing the 10.7 version.
-
what is you graphics card setup dude?
-
I made sure i did a totally clean install of the new driver and have had none of the problems mentioned in this thread. BFBC2 performance is about where it should be, flickering is mostly gone, no bad wakeups/lockups/bsod's on boot.
-
Ok, makes sense
-
listen guys whatever i state here is fact. I have the new system with 5870 CF.
Dell drivers ..worked in sleep mode, but problems with newest flash player 10.1
10.6 drivers.. sleep problems , had to hard shutdown, but worked with flash payer 10.1
10.7 beta .. sleep works just like the dell drivers and flash player 10.1 works too.
10.7 official 10.7 drivers..sleep works just like the dell drivers and flash player 10.1 works too.
These are the best all around drivers i have tested to date.
Previous drivers must be cleaned out from registry, c:\ , then run driver cleaner. also let it fully reboot twice after installation. I have a method that
always works for me . Currently I'm running the official 10.7's and everythings peachy..
-
I've completely driver sweeped and uninstalled the 10.5 and non-functioning 10.7's many times now. It's not an installation error.
-
Guys I have installed 10.7 and BFBC run great, just install the profil update for 10.7 and the FPS go from 30 to 80....
-
I would like to be able to understand what can make two similar computers act differently meaning one working and one not.
Should we start a thread to help us troubleshoot and try to pinpoint what could make one system install successfully and the other one not. -
This one fits the bill. I'm not sure everyone that's reporting that they have 'no problems' are specifically going through the same situations I and others with the problems have been.
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...crossfire-m17x-general-discussion-thread.html
It will work fine if you're on A/C power... Once you boot from the battery it'll freeze 20-30seconds after windows loads up. -
EVERY game works fine for me and Bad Company 2 performance hasn't dropped either. Those of you that are seeing problems probably ran the installer on top of your old drivers or something else. I'd suggest a complete uninstall + driver sweeper and registry cleaner for good measure. I haven't checked the sleep mode yet but I left my notebook on all night when I was sleeping (I have sleep mode disabled but the screensaver is active) and it resumed just fine. -
Would system bios versions be a possibility in people having various results from 10.7.
-
afaik, there is only 1 VBIOS for our 5870s.
-
My thoughts exactly, I think a lot of people have stuff in their registry which interferes with new drivers.
-
Umm, YES it is. Relax, slow down. It takes time to do it right.
Seems like many people are in to much of a hurry.
Oh and BTW, don't boot in safe mode to use driver cleaner -
This did not happen for me I booted from battery ran for 15-20 min plugged it in put it to sleep, woke it and had no issues.
-
Sorry i meant system bios
-
Really the best method to make sure the registries are clean is a full format. If you prepare your SSD and have files in one place. A full format with re-installation of everything is at best 2 hours which ends up being much less work and hassle then trying to repair poorly installed drivers...
-
I'm using A06.
No.. it's not. I'm now on a fresh win 7 install and the problem is the exact same. The issue does not happen with 10.5's..
afaik, I'm the only one with this problem, or haven't heard of anyone else having it. I'm acutally on battery now, but with crossfire disabled and it appears to be stable. I'll try again with crossfire enabled to see if it will freeze. -
Well Joker,
I have to say these drivers ROCK.
All previous errors are simply GONE.
Loading time in BFBC2 and Splinter Cell have been reduced significantly.
Thanks Joker and Thanks ATI.
No more hesitant on my purchase of the M17X-R2 with 5870 Xfire.

Have i read things right???? has the 10.7 been released? does it cure the probs without workarounds??? i just signed in and got quite excited
-
Well, after re-enabling crossfire I get a black screen when trying to restart windows once again
-
YES.
Rep Joker bec. without him and his thread, we would suffered couple more days with the problems of the previous dirvers. -
What?! Joker is a good guy, but he didn't do anything here except post that 10.7s are available, and it's been known they were releasing today for a week now...
Get your Catalyst 10.7 (non-WHQL) here
