    Hi everyone,
    Getting new SSD (Intel 510 120GB) and i need help to install the SSD in the M17X.

    I'm a newbi to alienware,...read many threads...i do not know anything about 'port 1', 'port 0', 'RST', 'LPM',...etc

    Can anyone please point me to a thread/link/guide/video to install the new SSD os the primary OS drive to get the sata3 6gbps?

    RST is Intels driver that helps optimize and improve SSD performance. LPM fix is a registry fix but with the Intel 510 you don't need to worry about that. Port 1 and 0 are the names for the 2 HDD ports and one of them does not work with SATA 3(port 0, but i do not remember) The ports are labelled when you open the R3.

    The ports are labeled with huge letters - but you can only see that when you remove the drive caddy.

    Here's a picture of my opened M17xR3. You can see the two drive caddys - they are the big silver-grey things with holes in them. Bay 0 is to the right, and Bay 1 is right in the middle. In this picture there's no drive in Bay 1, and you can just make out the labeling through the holes in the drive caddy:

    In this next picture, I've removed the caddy from Bay 0, and here's the completely empty bay.
