Hello fellow nbr members!
In my previous threads http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/571156-screen-bad-enough-replaced.html (the thread we came to the concluetion that my screen must be replaced) and http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m17x/571390-request-m17x-owners-ccfl-screens.html (the thread where I asked for photos to prove to Dell that my screen was indeed bad) I have promised to keep you guys informed with the end result.
Dell has finally agreed to replace my screen next week, so I would like to thank the following nbr members for their support in this issue:
Thatoe: Special thanks to you for the photos and great support.
ttnuagmada: Thank you for the photo.
katalin_2003: Thank you for following my issue and encouraging me to not give up.
Emm3: Thank you for telling me that I must get angry with them.
M3TH0D1C4L: Thank you for verifying that my screen was bad.
Mooneyd: Thank you for telling me that I should not accept this screen.
aarpcard: Thank you for verifying that my screen was bad.
Jestare: Thank you for verifying that my screen was bad.
If I have missed out someone, please inform me and I will correct it.
The new problem
Everyone knows that Dells tech guys are heavy handed. I have experienced this myself with my previous computer (M15x), where the tech was sliding his hand with a ring all over my lid to turn the computer upside down. What can I do to prevent this from happening to my M17x aswell?
Anyway it is good that this has finally come to an end, I will keep you guys updated again once the screen has been replaced.
Thanks for the great support and for following my issue!

Congrats on finally convincing them! As far as what you can do, maybe just stand there and observe him? I wouldn't know how else you could prevent him from messing up. If he does something questionable, you could voice your opinion about it. He won't be happy, but I think the tech's have become desensitized to working with expensive machines.

Finally, man, I'm si happy for you!
A screen swap shouldn't be a big deal, pay attention to his moves, heck ask him to remove his rings and whatever before!
And most important: don't let him leave before testing your laptop and make sure everything's not worse!
Cheers -
Thanks for the input guys!
I will make sure that the tech removes his rings etc (I do not think I can make him cut his nails
).....
After the replacement (next week) I will make sure to post some images here so you all can see before and after
Have a great day! -
I'm actually wanting AW to send me a monitor assembly so I can install it myself. I've already done a tear-down and its one of the easier parts to handle, but Dell still classifies it as non-user replaceable.
-
Ask the Tech to take off his ring.
I kid, Just heavily supervise him and don't be afraid to tell him to stop if hes doing something that will damage the system. -
Having the screen replaced can take place outside of the 21-day thing, right? Cuz I have 3year + accidental warranty.
Please advise. Thx. -
Yeah your accidental warranty gotcha covered.

Alright. If I decide to keep the R3(s), then the original one shall be it. They better come up with something good to convince me to keep ANY dell product. Otherwise, they're both going back for good.

good deal, glad i could help out.

Ok guys, the service is supposed to be today. It is 09:27 am here and I have not got a call from the tech yet. Does anyone know what time they use to call?
Before when I had my M15x the service calls used to be around 8-8:30 am... -
The tech is on his way now. After the screen has been replaced I will post before and after pictures in a new thread as promised
-
Hope everything works out fine.
