Hi guys,
I'm offered a replacement system for my r2. The r2 specs are in my sig. It has the DVD drive and the normal wifi card. I'm offered:
3rd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3820QM Processor (2.7GHz with Turbo Boost 2.0 up to 3.7GHz, 8MB Cache)
17.3" (43.94 cm) 120Hz WideFHD (1920 x 1080) WLED LCD w/3D Bundle
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 4GB)
500GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
RAID 0 (Striped Disk Array)
500GB 7200RPM 2nd Hard Drive
8X DVD + /-RW Drive with DVD + R double layer write capability
2GB DDR5 NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 680M
Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 With Bluetooth 4.0
Should I go ahead? I'm in Singapore and don't have the option of m18x so I think I can't bargain for that. Is there anything I should bargain for?
I would also like to extend my warranty. How does it normally happen?
Thank you very much.
Any opinions? Input would be most appreciated.

That sounds like an amazing deal. I would go ahead without hesitation if I were you. You can either talk to a rep on phone or get to the support website to purchase extended warranty.

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
Excellent deal. Nearly every component represents a substantial upgrade, except for the RGB screen, which is no longer available in any Alienware model. Very rare to see a two generation upgrade as a replacement. Grab it and enjoy. An extended warranty is often included with a replacement, but the particulars depend on the facts and circumstances of each case.
-
Thank you for your responses. Well the rep told me that someone would email me after I get my system. Do you guys have any idea how much is it to extend the warranty?
-
Very cool. They're offering a much more powerful R4. One point of order: replace the wireless card. Something about the Intel 2200 series just isn't flying. Of course, if you need bluetooth, you don't have too many options, but if you can live with no bluetooth, look into getting a Killer Wireless Card.
-
Do it NOW. Great upgrade. If you dont mind me asking, why are they replacing your system in the first place? thanks.
-
Well, I don't think the rep is too friendly in offering a free upgrade. My previous system was bricked, tech tried to replace mobo a few times but failed so they decided to replace
-
I can not believe you even asked
Good to see they are taking care of you! -
wow. dell is hooking you up big time! so jealous. just placed order recently for an R4 as well. I'd say your replacement config is worth at least around 3200usd on dell site, with maxed cpu + gpu + 3D options.
how much did you pay for your R2 if you don't mind me asking?
congrats on the new rig by the way! -
look a new thread having a problem with a killer cardkiller network card disabled

5600 sgd or 4.4k usd

If I were you I would ask for an M18x since you have crossfire cards. But the deal your offered is still really good and if they refused on the M18x then I would take the deal. Askinf for a dual card system for your dual card system doesn't hurt. Just see if they will offer an M18x. Asking never hurts, worst thing they can do is say no. In that case you still get a heck of a system. Just my two $.02

Ahh too late, I already told them to go ahead...
-
All good, that is a very, VERY nice replacement system. Well Done
-
Thank you guys for all the responses. Looking forward to my system.

What was your issue that got you a new M17xR4 replacement system? I am on an M17xR3 that has given me hell and all I get are refurb options, even after 2 months of pain and struggle.
-
-
Very true. I guess its dealer's choice between Killer Wireless N and the Intel 6300.
-
-
*Whistles* yea, nice replacement.
-
The wireless cards have nothing to do with the bluetooth. There is a separate chip next to the wireless card that is the bluetooth.
-
That's very true. You can always get the Dell bluetooth card (I guess it's the 380 module now?) installed with a Killer Wireless or Intel 6300N.
Go Ahead?
