    Hey all

    I was able to get a sweet deal on a Alienware 17 with a 765m i74700 ($600) 1440x900p Screen

I want to give this to my cousin but I want to know a couple of things

Can the 900p Screen be replaced with a 1080 screen?

The 765m has anyone gotten any good speeds overclocking? At what settings or did you need a modded Vbios?

    Thanks!

The screen should be upgradeable, yes. But it will cost about $200 to do so, and can be a challenge for inexperienced people to install.

The 765M averages about 4300 on 3DMark 11. It's a decent GPU for the "average" gamer who doesn't mind playing on medium to high settings.

Yes you can upgrade it. It's actually a good upgrade to consider.

I don't want to say 100% but in general most Dell Alienware can upgrade to the top end panel with no issue, just have to buy the entire display assembly most of the time. The Alienware 17 features an MXM card so if overclocking doesn't give you the increase you want, you could always just replace the card..
