Ok so I was looking at the blu ray drive option on the m17x r3 and I saw that for 150, you don't get the blue ray burner just the reader. So i did a little searching around and found a site that has the Panasonic Uj235, which is the slot load blu ray burner from the R2. I found it online brand new for 120. The question I have is, will it be able to play 3d movies, because I am purchasing the 3d version of the m17x with the 580m. Second question i have is, if it will be able to play 3d movies, will it fit in the R3 without any problems? Lastly do you guys think buying the internal wirelesshd with the receiver is a good idea or should I just purchase the card for 100 and buy the receiver from somewhere else? I have checked around quite a bit and could not find a website that has the receiver for cheap, they are all around 180-200. If I purchase from dell I get the whole setup for 260. Ok so those are my questions. I would have posted the Wirelesshd question in its respective thread, but I was already starting a thread and thought this would be easier. Thanks in advance for taking your time out to read and comment.

Enter key is your friend :)

You can swap them out no problem but there are a lot of screws to take off to get the disc drive out, not difficult just time consuming, be prepared.

It will play 3D movies no problem.

The wireless HD is up to you. Personally, I hook my laptop to my 3D projector with an HDMI cable so I have no need for it.

Haha yea my sister is an English teacher she would kill me if she saw that, but i am writing this on my phone and was in a hurry and wanted some opinions.

So lvneptune I know your very knowledgeable because i was following your thread on the 485m support in the m17x, so your guaranteeing that the blu ray burner will play 3d blu ray's without any hickups, or skips? Also would you recommend it over the one dell is offering now with the m17x's?

I have no preference on the bluray drive. I pulled mine out completely and put it in an external enclosure so I just plug it in when needed. I have 3 HD's in my laptop :)

It will play 3D with no issues, you will need the latest PowerDVD or whatever you prefer to play them with. NVIDIA 3D Vision supports 3D Blurays out of the box as well as the graphics card is fine for it.

An external blu-ray drive is also an option, you can get one for cheap too.

na i dont want an external one, to much to lug around at that point. I was really interested in this blu ray burner because it is actually cheaper then the dell one and the dell one is only a blu ray reader.

Wireless HD if it catches on (and I hope it does) will drop pretty quickly in price, imo hold off on it cause I imagine something newer and cooler will come out as the tech improves.

Also I've always wondered if USB 2.0 has the bandwidth to deal with blu-ray movies and the like. I was lucky enough to get a machine with the drive already but I was originally considering the M11 but figured I'd have to get an R3 for the USB 3 speeds if I wanted to do blu-ray.
