Hi.i did some cleaning with my alienware m17xr2 this morning. While cleaning the graphic card, i accidentally break up 2 layers of the graphic card radiator.i'm not sure if people call it radiator.lolz. is there by any chance that my graphic card might be mulfunction? or is my graphic card might be easily getting hotter than before bcoz of the layer accident?

Ouch that really broke off didn't it? It'll definitely still work, though now the fan will have a gap on one end and, yes, you will most likely suffer from temperature problems.

If it is only the last two rows of fins, it might not be a big deal. You'll just have to try it and see. Alienware heat sinks are not very expensive, so buying a new one should not cost an arm and a leg. I would try it first like it is instead of buying a new heat sink.

if i want to buy a new one, do i have to find heatsink which is specifically designed for M17xr2 or any alienware having the same design of heatsink?and how do i stick the heatsink back to the gold plate in the picture?using what type of glue?

Hello, Kimie, there's no need to worry about your broken fins. That's only a small part and should not have a big impact on your temperatures.
And from what i can see in the picture, the heat pipes are untouched so everything should be ok.
