Im waiting the arrival of my secondary 4870 and i have just thought i wont have screws to hold the card .... so would it be ok to take out 1 screw from the other card to hold it or would that not be good enough .
Or would anyone know the size of the screws so i can source some ?

    Thanks

I suppose you could. I would take 2 screws out instead. One from each side vertically.

    ------>

This would be the most secure screwing method.

Does the card have 4 screws ?
I thought they only had 2 per card

    Thanks

I have no idea personally. I think they have 4 and my idea was that you take 2 from 1 card and put those 2 into the other card vertically so from a bird's eye view it would look like:

    x

    x

But maybe the cards have 2 screws and in that case just go on a take a screw away. :)

I don't really think is a wise idea, clamping force over the gpu die won't be evenly distributed.

Teoretically it can lead to improper heat disipation and uneven stress over the die.

    just my 2 cents

I'm pretty sure they are talking about screws that hold the card down, not the headsink to the die.

Also I think there are just 2 screws per card. No idea if one per will hold it good or not, you'd just have to try it and see if it feels loose.

there should be two screws in the bag. =) it does only have two screws and it wont matter. if they somehow got lost or ets.ets, they can be had very easily from a Hardware supplier, i believe they are 2.5mmx3mm.

    Hi
Yes its the screws that hold the card down , not the heat sync .

I purchased my secondary 5870 directly from dell and there were no screws in the package . . I used 2 of the 3 screws that were used for the cover when there was no card installed
