Why not just go to AMD itself to get the latest drivers?

there is a opt in the bios to entirely disable switchable graphics, after that, go download the update and run it

I'm on 12.2 WHQL drivers with switchable graphics working with AMD 6970m

    • It was a bit of a struggle
    • got clean all drivers using DriverSweeper.
    • Install Intel HD gpu drivers from dell site.
    • Install Dell stock AMD drivers express install.

then now it will get messy

    • Try 12.2 WHQL mobility.
    • Install...make sure to go custom install and untick everything except catalyst install manager , catalyst control center and the driver itself.
    • You might get a BSOD after install or/and might get Catalyst Control Center can't see any driver. Restart if no BSOD and it might work! if not continue
    • Now you start fiddling with windows device manager.
    • You will have both drivers on your PC at this time and I felt usually BSODs happen due to the Intel GPU having the wrong driver.
    • You got make sure Intel is still using the ATI driver obtained from the dell stock AMD install (8.851.2.0)
    • First of all , if your windows interface have this awful look with max brightness and 800x600 resolution. Right click on the desktop and at least switch to 1280 rez to make it easier to work.
    • Go to the device manager , right click Intel graphics , make sure its running on ATI drivers. Or manually install from here using Update Driver on the Device manager.
(for 6970m , yours might be different) C:\dell\drivers\R309894\Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF
    • For your 69XX card , manually switch between drivers until it works .. sounds noobish but it worked for me at least.
    • Use Device manager, right click , update drivers , "browse my computer..." , "let me pick from the list..." and then mess around and restart
    • Try the stock drivers first, called AMD raedeon 6900M drivers and see if the rez and brightness work after restart (catalyst will say no drivers still)
    • Back to device manager after restart, now manually select 12.2 drivers (8.950.0.0) as above "Let me pick...." and hopefully it will work with CCC working too after another restart.

There is no option to disable the intel graphics on the stock bios...unless you install an unlocked bios. I'm currently using the A08 unlocked insyde bios

OMG pp_ph, you are going to scare the newbs :D

Its not necessary to do all that for me. 99% of the time, i just install over the previous version and that's it. Everything works. the 1% required me to clean out the drivers with driver sweeper first, then install the Intel drivers, then the latest AMD mobility drivers.

Chrille, you did download the mobility drivers, right?

Sometimes you will get a BSOD during an install of AMD drivers as well. Not sure why it does this, but let your machine boot up and continue the install. I installed the dell drivers and the 12.2 which I personally had a few minor issues with. But once I installed 12.3 over top of 12.2 everything has been working great including graphics card switching. ;)

ya, i agree, i had my only issues installing drivers with the 12.2's...however, the 12.3's WHQL mobility drivers went in easily

BigT, you sent that from your smartphone? they have those in Alaska? :p

So, is there anyway to install AMD and Intel updated drivers without installing Dell's drivers first?

Both of these are mobility driver links? Neither specify when you click on them.
