I just went to download the newest update for my graphics cards and after it failed to install the drivers, it wont let me do anything. I cant load any games and almost 20 times a minute, a little window pops up:

This message pops up several times at once and I have no idea what to do!

This is the driver update I downloaded:

    NVIDIA DRIVERS 280.26 WHQL

    Please Help!!

use driver sweep to fully get rid of the latest driver u just instlled.

then just install the older version. I remember seeing posts about how you need to use the driver provided my Dell. Not sure if this is still the case, but some people I remember complained how latest drivers from ATI/nvidia didnt work and they had to use the one offered by dell (which isnt always the latest).

use the driver sweep and see what happens.

just install the drivers first and try to download the older one and see if it will install.

manually turn of the computer using the power button, not os shut down.

and when u turn on, it will ask
    safe boot
    safe boot with network
    or
    start windows normally

something like this option. try that. and call up AW when u can

When booting up, you want to press F8 on your keyboard. That will give you a menu of various things. Choose safe mode. Once there try to uninstall your driver.

Reboot and log into windows normally and then reinstall the driver. Choose Advanced/Custom install(can't remember the exact name) during the installation. It will give you a option to clean install. Choose that and see if that fixes your issues

    Good Luck

Turn off Windows Defender and Google's Spyware w/ AntiVirus. One or the other is causing the prevention of your driver installation.

Do as Idlehand suggests -- or, even easier, restore to the most recent restore point before you tried to install the troublesome drivers.

so what appears as the root cause of the issue?

Do we need to use drivers specifically released by DELL unless the vbios is flashed???

Or did the installation go wrong/hdd corrupt while installation and thats why you are having troubles?

I know that it failed while installing. It installed a little over half of the componants but there were about 3-4 that didnt. This included the 3D part of the driver.

But as for what drivers to download, I aint doing a thing until I hear otherwise from a professional. I think Dell/Alienware customer support is going to be getting a phone call when I have time.

The new drivers were not certified in the first place for Nvidia 580m.The next release will.

Just an opinion : before installing a new GPU driver it would be prudent to ensure its clocks etc are at default. I am also not sure if an over volted GPU can cause problems towards the software driver.

But i doubt you have a hardware issue. Your pop up exception message seems to be a typical cranky window response...

Try looking at events manager to locate any other messages that may shed some light.

The is a link from nvidia forum that allows you to download the inf modified driver. The have included Alienware m17x r3 in it. It works perfectly fine.
