    hello guys,

i just bought an alienware m17x r3 with 460m gtx 1.5 3d and everything with 8 gb ram and a 320 gb hard drive. so, as expected, i tried to install the a good graphics game for which i ACTUALLY have a cd for...which was GRID Race Driver. However, i couldnt even get to the main menu due to the lag. So, i ran some checks and it shows that the graphics card is only running at 202 mhz at max power instead of the 675 mhz. it never enters the 3d state but hovers at the 2d speed and steps down to the lowest (50mhz) state once in a while. And i only got a score of some 3000 in 3dmark06 <------ahhhhh...thats low rite???

here is the gpuz info (this is at the 460m max performance)

I just deactivated the "powerplay" option for my ATI 6970m and had the same problem (stuck with 2D clocks) - so I reactivated the option (full power on AC) and got my normal clocks back.

So, maybe its some kind of powersaving or you are running the 2D GPU (mine has the Intel HD 3000, dont know about yours).

BTW, GPU-Z showed me my 3D clocks (680/900) when running on 2D clocks (100/150), too.

glad that you got your problem resolved.
