Hi, I just got an M17x
I did a fresh install of the Windows 7 Home Premium that came with the laptop.
I downgrade the bios to A03, I installed all of the latest updates drivers as well from the Dell site for that specific laptop using my tag # as reference.
Regards to the video driver, I installed the driver, after I did it I check under Display adapter tab and I saw my 2 ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 and under Sound, video and game controller tab, an ATI high definition Audio Device and non any yellow mark.
Few days later without any notice or advice, I have these few issues:
under display adapter tabs show: STANDARD VGA GRAPHICS ADAPTER
under Sound, video and game controller tab: I don't have any more ATI high definition Audio Device
under other devices tab: a yellow mark (coprocessors)
and Catalyst control center is not working I have the links but these doesn't working

    any idea?

    Regards
    El Serch

Why did you downgrade the BIOS? Maybe try the most recent versions?

Reinstall using the following procedure: Make sure you are up to date first with any BIOS updates.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...d-your-m17x-r2-full-detailed-description.html

Read the thread, you shouldnt go far wrong. And why did you backdate the BIOS out of interest? Is this a refurb or brand new M17x? - what are your specs?

Standard VGA means you dont have a vidoe driver installed other than windows standard driver. Either you missed or messed up the driver install somehow, if you installed ANY driver, it would show under device manager..

Scroll to the top of the page. Somewhere near the top right, you should see bold letters that say 'Welcome, ElSerch.' Under that is a hyperlink that says 'Private Messages'. Then on the left is the Control Panel that will let you edit your signature. Unless it has something to do with your low post count?

Thank you for the link, I print already the instruccions and right now I am downloading the rest of the drives. I will try tonight to install all.
    But I have few questions.
1.- Intel Ibex Chipset is on M17x-R2 only right?
2.- Lan network, how I know what driver I need?
3.- nVidia MCP79 Chipset can be the driver for my lan network?
4.- Intel RAID manager, it is on my "Resorce Disk"?

    Regards
    El Serch
