Hi guys after lots of issues with my current 6990m dell agreed to replace it and the motherboard after weeks of stock issues in the UK for the 6990m dell offered me to options either i can take a 6970m and receive a slight refund or i can have a GTX 580m for free. i took the GTX 580m as i have had lots of issues with AMD cards i decided to jump ship.

i am just looking for peoples opinion on if this was the right decision or not?

also could someone please provided me with a guide on the best way to go about installing the drivers for GTX 580m here was my plan uninstall the amd drivers run driver sweeper etc then dell tech installs gtx 580 tomorrow install default dell drivers for gtx 580 then update vbios and then install latest drivers from Drivers | GeForce

could someone please tell how to update vbios is it the same as flashing a bios

    ANY HELP IS WELCOME

The only reason to flash the vbios is to get rid of the 63c power throttle. Pretty much everyone will get the 63c throttle at some point, but flashing the vbios I linked will fix it. You still have the 77c overheating throttle so you are not risking damage to your card, just insuring it runs properly.

With Optimus there is roughly no risk to flashing, make sure you follow the instructions for Optimus in the guide. If something were to go wrong you can still boot with your Intel card and reflash.
