Hi guys after lots of issues with my current 6990m dell agreed to replace it and the motherboard after weeks of stock issues in the UK for the 6990m dell offered me to options either i can take a 6970m and receive a slight refund or i can have a GTX 580m for free. i took the GTX 580m as i have had lots of issues with AMD cards i decided to jump ship.
i am just looking for peoples opinion on if this was the right decision or not?
also could someone please provided me with a guide on the best way to go about installing the drivers for GTX 580m here was my plan uninstall the amd drivers run driver sweeper etc then dell tech installs gtx 580 tomorrow install default dell drivers for gtx 580 then update vbios and then install latest drivers from Drivers | GeForce
could someone please tell how to update vbios is it the same as flashing a bios
ANY HELP IS WELCOME

For drivers removal and replacing GPU :
How to: Remove your Nvidia GPU Drivers.
VBIOS :

I would just skip Dell drivers. Install the latest WHQL Verde drivers 306.23 and after the tech leaves you can mess with vbios. Dell drivers are not necessary.
Here is the thread for the vbios, use the regular one, NOT the .92v one.

good point i think bf3 on ultra would be a good start. dell instructions on updating the bios
"Custom Instructions for GTX580M_Vbios_A01.iso:
ISO image of production GTX560M Vbios. Burn image to CD and reboot system. Press F12 to choose CD/DVD drive. When promoted, press Y."
would u recommend using this or the other guys ? -
NO! if you have a 580m why would you flash 560? thats just asking for a brick GPU

The only reason to flash the vbios is to get rid of the 63c power throttle. Pretty much everyone will get the 63c throttle at some point, but flashing the vbios I linked will fix it. You still have the 77c overheating throttle so you are not risking damage to your card, just insuring it runs properly.
With Optimus there is roughly no risk to flashing, make sure you follow the instructions for Optimus in the guide. If something were to go wrong you can still boot with your Intel card and reflash. -
nooooo that's not my description that's whats under the dell 580m bios description no joke go check someone made a mistake under install instructions
