Please help me in making a decision to upgrade my M17x r2 from dual hd4870m in crossfirex to single 680m 4gb card from nvidia(not Clevo or dell). I got an offer from compeve in Ebay for USD275. Shall I proceed.

    Hi...
They won't provide x bracket and screws. Will this card be plug and play type or do I need to do any modifications to make it work in M17x r2

It's been awhile since I had the m17x-R2. I did have the 680m , 2GB version running in that laptop. I believe you have to modify the .inf file with the device hardware ID in the nVidia driver.

Edited: you need xbracket , the heatsink that I had used with the 680m was the heatsink from either GTX 280m/285m.

I also had an offer for 2gb version of 680m for 300usd. This 4gb version have 275+65 usd shipping. Which one should i go for. The guy selling 2gb version told that gtx670mx is the better card for R2 in a long term basis as 680m is a bit hot for R2.

Will the x bracket and heat sink of hd4870m matches with 680m.
