You need to connect your panel to the eDP port instead of LVDS, so you'll need an eDP cable as well.

Can I just buy the edp cable to hook it up to my 60hz display or do I need to have a 120hz panel?

You don't need a 120hz panel for a 970m. Just go into the bios and turn on "Always enable PEG" mode

That setting will not be available on stock A14 BIOS.

You can press FN+F7 to disable Intel GPU and leave only nvidia GPU active.

So I can use my current display which is 900p with 60hz and buy a edp cable to change out the lvds cable? I really don’t want to buy a screen if I don’t need to buy one

No point in plugging in a vga cable to a displayport.

Not that I'm aware, a15 was just security patch with loss to performance so most that desired it stayed with a14

That is the version that anyone is referring to when they mention an unlocked bios.

Well my screen came in hooked it up and i didn’t install windows 10 on my uefi it’s on my legacy bios I did disabled the legacy rom, secure boot, windows 8 fast boot disabled, when I put on my 970m the screen beeps 8 times and when I take it out the screen turns on and I don’t get a Alienware logo and it beep 8 times it’s not having windows 10 installed on my uefi causing this?
