Overclocked at 750/900 and stock voltage:

    ---

I can confirm that it is 101% safe to flash a 580M to a 675M, so go ahead folks! :)

One will need a modded .inf file since Nvidia does not support the 675M just yet. Also bear in mind that this does not fix the 78C throttle, as every single Nvidia card will throttle at that temp in the R3.

    ---

Drivers and modded .inf files: Drivers | drivers for mobile cards and laptops | laptopvideo2go.com
I suggest the latest WHQL certified drivers.

The following vbios are Dell in nature and have been dumped from a Dell GTX 675M from a M17x R4.

    0.87v vbios: 675m.rom

    0.92v overvolted vbios: 675m92v.rom
Do NOT use Furmark or any other stress tool with this vbios, it will kill your card. Ensure you keep your card as cool as possible - this vbios is for benchers and extreme overclockers only.

Use this guide by widezu69 to flash your card: [Guide] 580m GTX throtting fix. No need to modify system Bios.

    ---

    Thanks to:

Little Washu for the Dell GTX 675M vbios
    svl7 for overvolting the vbios
pau1ow for the original Clevo GTX 675M vbios
    widezu69 for his flashing guide
Me for testing all vbios and confirming that they work perfectly. :)

The P1 state has the lower voltage but the card didn't go to that state, so it didn't throttle on me.

    4 p-states. P0 is max performance, P1 lower voltage, P8 and P12 lowest voltage.

if you want to test it in a m17x R3, i'm near by ;)

well, like i said many times previously, the members on here know their stuff. BUt lets do some testing first and see if there is any longevity to the throttle fix and that there are no issues before we raise our hands completely :D

This is a great day for 580m owners though...finally a ray of hope

Lmao, I'm just a guinea pig more than anything. But... bad news!

Tested it in a game and it throttled at 78C. It seems like anything identified as an Nivida card in the bios, will throttle at that temperature.

    Oh well.

this means the throttle is being applied at a device ID level. Is there a way to spoof that?

If you can post a screenshot of the device manager with the opened "display adapter" window showing the "details" tab and the "hardware ids" in the dropdown menu I might be able to mod you a driver.

Just for laughs. See attached image. All hacks were done on a driver level. I'm still using the 580m vbios, not a single bios flash was used, driver mod only.

The 675m vbios is quite a bit different to the 580m VBIOS (Dell and Clevo). There are still huge parts which are identical, but they changed more than I expected.

Lol, that's NBR... what did you expect :D

@widezu: Just wondering... is this the one I just created and put on MVKtech?

Hard to say, I only took a quick look at it. Lots of differences there. What you might notice at sometime is that they made some very slight changes to the clock domains.

Hahaha you're welcome LUVR. Gotta love British ban'a!

Edit: For those who want to, there is a much easier way of soft modding your 580m into a 675m. I have attached an inf file. You must go into C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\301.24\WinVista_Win7_64\International\Display.Driver and replace it with this new one, if you aren't overwriting something, you're going it wrong. Reinstall the driver This doesn't affect performance or throttling or anything. It just changes the device name in GPUz :D

Use the guide in my throttling fix. It is the same principle, but use the 67m.bin instead of the 580m.rom.
