Ok. I have a m17x. I have gotten crappy read/write speeds on my samsung ssd 256gb model. It wasn't trim enabled when the computer first shipped almost a year ago. I contacted AW about his many times as my read write speeds were 120/40 at the time. They shipped me a new SAmsung ssd with the latest firmware and TRIM is enabled as per crystaldisk. I ran crystalmark and my reads are only 140/write 70. WTH is wrong? THe original specs should be 220/180. My computer feels slow as crap. Games open slow, programs take forever, What could be going on? I doubt it is the hard drive because I have replaced that and it is still doing it. ANy ideas????? I am frustrated.

I'd back up everything you need, and do a secure erase. Check out the SSD Tips and tricks thread for details on doing the secure erase. Pay particular attention to pages 11+. Thats where I was working out some issues, though not in the M17x. Also after the secure erase, install and run through the tips on the original post as well as The Win7 SSD Performance Optimization Guide linked in Les' signiture.

    Installing an SSD? tips/tricks/benchmarks

Just a side note. In My Inspiron 1720 the SSD runs faster in ATA mode and not AHCI. In the M17x, it will run faster in AHCI mode. Just don't want you to get confused as you read through my issues in that thread as much of it focused on the 1720. M11x runs faster in AHCI as well. So bottom line stick to AHCI mode. ;) Hope this helps or at least points you in the right direction.

Also to do the secure erase, download Ubuntu, and run it off a bootable thumb drive. Create the thumbdrive by downloading and running UNetBootin Than boot from the thumb, when your att the desktop click "Applications" scroll down to "Terminal" and follow these steps. ATA Secure Erase

stamatisx told me this and it will probably help you

    Hope this helps. ;)

thanks DR. The problem persits even after I obtained the new drive from Dell. Are you sure it couldn't be something else besides the hard drive?
