I have installed AMD 13.1 Drivers, all working great. I have had my lappy on 7970 only for months, thought I would boot with HD 4000 and noticed there were artefacts from the boot screen into windows, I installed the latest Intel drivers but no fix. I have tried uninstalling all Video drivers and tried the rock solid Dell drivers but no change. My read is that because the artefacts start straight away on boot screen and on bios screen, that it is a HD 4000 hardware issue. Everything perfect when booting with 7970. Nothing overclocked. Opinions? Thanks

If it is before it loads the AMD drivers, probably a HD4000 issue. If I recall, on intel systems, the 7970M gets routed through the HD4000 and from that chip out to the monitor - so if your HD4000 is hosed and gets worse, it can start to effect your 7970M too. Someone please correct me on this if I am wrong.
Call Dell, you're going to want to find out what it takes to get a new motherboard.
In the mean time, try running the system diagnostics by pushing whatever corresponding keys at bootup launch the dell utility and make sure it's not the RAM or something simple to fix. -
