I was wondering if it were possible for me to get the default hard drive that ships with the M17x r3 and then replace the drive with an Newegg.com - OCZ Vertex 3 VTX3-25SAT3-120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) and then put a Newegg.com - Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD10TPVT 1TB 5200 RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive in bay two without any troubles.
Thanks!

Physically there should be no trouble, but you have to a clean install obviously and that causes some people trouble.

I would buy crucial or intel. A lot of r3 users here have reported issues with vertex 3. Once you have your ssd, just put it on port 1 to ensure a sata 3 6gbps speed. Put your storage in port 0.

Awesome everyone! Thank you for your responses, each of which were greatly helpful.

you can purchase crucial m4 for $ 195 which is cheaper than newegg's price.

You should know that the 1Tb WD blue is 12,5mm high so make sure that the R3 can accommodate it first
I know that the M17x and the M17x R2 can but they have a different chassis.
