I noticed the new 17x has HDMI in. If you have a cable box/DVR/TiVo with HDMI out, can you use the laptop to watch TV using the cable box's tuner?

If so..has anyone actually done it? How does it work?

I really want a new gaming laptop and was also going to buy a small LCD tv for my office, the price of the laptop is making me hesitate, but if it will double as a TV, then I think it is definitely worth it.

    Thanks

hdmi in is basicly just directly to the screen as such, u cant use the laptop to record or so.

see it more like hooking up stuff directly to a monitor, and u can switch between laptop and whatever u connect to it.

so u could hook up any device that does hdmi out and watch on the laptop but u cant use the laptop to record whatever is commin in as such.

It's basically a tv built in. Keep in mind though, that it's not actually "connected" to your computer at that point. But, your computer DOES have to be on though, which is kinda strange...
