    Guys,
I've got a question regarding the HDMI Port on the M17x. I understand that the HDMI port is version 1.3 which support 2560×1600. [ ]HDMI - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

    1. So if that's the case, are there any monitors out there that supports ANY resolution above 1920 x 1200 on HDMI?
    2. Has anyone setup one up? If so with which monitor?

My reason for that is so that I can run say 2 x 2560 x 1440 Dell's ... One via the displayport and the other via HDMI?

    thanks

Zero monitors that have 2560 resolutions are able to display that resolution from a HDMI input. HDMI is home theater stuff, and no matter what Wikipedia says, the 2560 resolution from HDMI is pure vaporware. It is very possible to declare you are 1.3 without supporting all the features of 1.3. So even saying 1.3 doesn't say for certain it would output such a resolution. But even so, no monitor will display full 2560 res from HDMI. None.

Oh and I have the U2711, and it's well known that it won't do 2560x1440 from HDMI. Used to say so in the detailed manual, but doesn't matter, it doesn't work :)

In regards to asus G73 which only has HDMI & VGA. Running an external screen of 2560x1600 over HDMI isnt poss? What about the VGA?

If I just got a VGA-DVI-D adaptor? Would the quality be good?

    thanks

VGA -> DVI-D is impossible.....you could do VGA -> DVI-I but it would be the exact same signal with a different pinout
