HDMI in not working + cannot play steam demos?

I've had my M17x R4 for about a week and its its been fine besides two problems,

The sound from my PS3 which is plugged in via HDMI in, is not playing sound via my headphones plugged into my laptop

I also downloaded F1 2012 and sleeping dogs, but when on ultra settings i only get 8fps on both games. I went into the catalyst control to set both games as high performance but that didn't work as loading up the game would only cause it to crash, so it seems it can only work off of intel integrated :/

About the sound issue via HDMI In, that's probably because of a setting change on the Creative Audio Software. Check out this article for further details. For the low FPS issue, try to update the video card driver, perform a clean installation when updating.

 

i tried fixed the setting change on the creative audio software and i hear sound on the ps3 home screen, but when i select a game and it starts playing, i hear a sound like tv static. I tested 2 games and the ps3 works fine on my tv and i have the latest creative sound blaster driver.
