I just downloaded the latest build of 3d mark vantage version 1.1 and when I ran the test I got extremely low scores. It's weird I got a 3d mark score of 0 the gpu score was 3300 and I forget what the cpu score was but something is wrong. I have my pc plugged into ac power, I have windows power options set to high performance, I checked in the alien fusion app and it is also set to high performance and I also checked the powerplay in ccc and it is also set to high performance. I am running the 6970m gpu, with the intel i7 26330qm. I have updated directx as well, do I have a defective gpu or system? Someone please help.Is there a setting I am missing in 3d mark vantage I set the resoultion to 1920 x 1080 and left all other settings alone. I also am using the dell stock gpu driver as well if that helps with info.

re-run vantage at the pre-set performance settings, don't change the res or nothing. just disable the optional test. performance setting res should be 1280x1024
-
Ok so I ran it at that resolution and I got a 3dmark score of p12326, gpu score of 11267 and cpu score of 17165. I think my gpu score is still slow compare to other stock clock 6970m, you have any opinions? Also I guess running 3dmark vantage you have to run it in that resoultion? Sorry for the newb questions.
-
When running 3dmarkvantage everyone uses the default resolution, anything else requires buying the program and who wants to do that?
I have the same CPU and GPU as you here is what I got...P11991

Your scores sound fine to me, from what I have found other people have similar scores also, where are you seeing otherwise? -
This thread here http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...alienware-m17x-benchmark-thread-part-4-a.html. I seen score in the 15k although I don't have any idea if they were all overclocking the gpu or if some got this high score by stock clock.
-
They all overclock.
The main focus of the thread is enthusiast benchmarking for competitiveness. We are all trying to get higher scores than everyone else and push the hardware to the limits.
-
most of the benchmark you see in that thread are oc'ed, 11-12k is right for stock.
-
thanks. Do you have any recommendations of a stable safe long term overclock for the 6970m or did you just overclock yours just for the benchmark. If you are overclocking for everyday use what do you have as your clocks and what program do you use?
-
For me I mainly keep everything stock. I pretty much only overclock the gpu's for benching. Don't really need the OC for 5870s crossfire and i doubt its necessary for a 6870. In most games anyhow.
-
i've flashed mine to 750/1000 for everyday use, prolly will reflash it to 800/1050 since temps have been great so far. i use trixx to oc when benching. if you don't want to run an oc program every time flashing is the way to go.

ok thanks for the info. I just ran 3dmark 06 and got overall score of 17573. On the cpu test red valley i got 1fps and 2fps on the second cpu test. Is this normal, I am new to all this benchmarking lol. Here is a link http://3dmark.com/3dm06/15825414?sh...6/15825414?key=x5mUM28kqZJfVEhh86Kt3MKXvs3Zz3

yes those cpu test are normal, if you see a 3fps in there that means you got an amazing cpu score going, hahaha
nate, it would help other to help you better if you post your spec in your sig. -
It has been updated
. Don't know why it is not showing up I put it in my signature and in my profile computer description
