    Hi everyone
After installing Call of duty MW3, my m17x r3 does not detect the GTX580m graphic card and automatically switched to Intel HD graphic. I removed Nvidia driver and try to reinstall it but it said "could not find compatible graphic card". In Device Manager windows, it only shows the integrated graphic. I press fn + F7 but didnt help, AC adapter is plugged in. Then I went to the bios to check, it said "discrete graphic card is not detected". What's wrong with my graphic card?

I have been flashing back my bios driver, restarting my laptop several times but the problem is still there. I have also tried to update my Vbios but the graphic card was not found. I have been googling but still couldn't find a cure for that.

Will reformating windows help? Is this software or hardware issue? Please help me, thank you so much

Have you done anything to your GPU like repasting or doing any OCing?

Things that I'd try if you haven't already are:

    1) Uninstalling MW3 to see if that's what caused it.
    2) Reseating the GPU.
    3) If possible, find someone nearby with an R3 and see if your graphics card works in their system to rule out a dead card.

This sounds like a sad coicidence to me.

When your computer is first booting up enter the bios (by pressing F2?). Is your GPU shown in the bios? It would be on the info page, and there is a spot for discrete GPU.

If it is shown then it is a Windows software problem, if it is gone then you can try reseating the card, but most likely the GPU or MXM slot decided to die and installing MW3 was just a coincidence.

Can anyone help me? Even I have uninstalled Intel graphic driver and now I cannot reinstall the Intel graphic driver back, now the m17x r3 is running at very low resolution. Now everything is screwed up, discrete card is not detected in the bios, not being able to install intel graphic driver. I don't think that's a hardware problem because i have just got this laptop for 2 months and it has been running fine

Yup, if it isn't in bios then it will need to be replaced or reseated. Time to call Dell. There is no possible way for Windows or installed software to make a card disappear from bios, bios is loaded before anything else.

I called Dell, they sent a technician to my home and replaced the mother board and the graphic card, the old graphic card was still working but he replaced a new graphic card for me as well, so happy. He said the problem is from the mother board itself. It was such a hard work, disassembling everything apart to replace the mother board, it took the technician man more than 2 hours testing and replacing.
Anyway, I'm very happy with the service they provided. DELL service is even better than Apple's in my own opinion.
