So every now and then, some of my keys just completely stop working unless I press them extremely hard, and that is obviously a no can do for writing or gaming.. been getting me super pissed ... usually they are W, F, I think J as well..

It takes me a lot of blowing under the key, removed the W key one time, multiple restarts, pressing the keyboard hard while.the computer is off... to get them working again, and then it's fine again for a couple days. But it is really pissing me off how it's the same keys every time, and I can't see a reason for it. I didn't see any dirt under the keys, and the first time it happened.. a simple restart fixed it.. so is it software related or something?

    Help please :(

Only way to see if it's software related is to restart and go into the bios when it happens. Find a text field you can edit and try using those keys. If the keys in question don't work in the BIOS, you've got yourself a hardware problem.

I had the same situation recently. The reason was weak connection of the keyboard cable with the motherboard. Just reconnect it and it should be fine :)

I've seen this issue myself but for me it is on the lower left corner of the screen (Shift, Ctrl, and Alt... maybe Fn). Reboot and it is ok. I suspect it is a loose connection for me too but I'm too lazy to get back in there to reseat the connection... :p

Could be a loose connection or software issue. Have you tried an external keyboard? or as radji says, try it in the BIOS.

If you've already tried this, send me a PM with your info and we'll sort things out.
