Hey guys I needed some help basically when I turn my laptop on half my keyboard lights don't load up. Its not until I login and open command centre that it loads up the rest. I've made a rainbow light theme, however if I just use normal colours it works fine its not until I use my theme that it stops working. I've tried finding a solution but can't seem to find any :/
Any help would be much appreciated Thanks!!

I'd like to second having this problem. The only lights which work for me as the system boots are the first two zones on the left side of the keyboard.

    Hi all,

Why don't you try re installing the command center? here's a link on how to do it. Try that and let me know how it goes.

I have noticed that depending on the theme that I am running, some sections of lights will not turn on until I login and AlienFX loads in the taskbar.

Mine mostly seems to be on the number pad and on the control keys near the top.

I dont think that its broken, I have always just assumed that AlienFX needs to load to be fully functional.

Try using some different themes or a more simple one and see if anything differs.

    Ok, try this:

    1. Uninstall the Command Center from Programs and features. Restart the computer.
    2. Go to: Computer>OS (C :)>Program Files> Alienware, and delete the Alienware folder. Restart the system again.
    3. Click Start menu and type "regedit".

    4. Open the Registry editor and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Alienware, and delete Alienware AlienFX and Command Center folders.

    5. After deleting those folders, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Wow6432Node>Alienware, and delete the same two folders.

    6. Restart the system again.
    7. Download and re install the command center.

Let me know how it goes.

P.D.: Sorry for the long post hopefully is not TLTR :S

    Thanks for the reply guys!!
Anthony it works if I use a basic layout but stops working with a more advanced theme.
Also thanks a lot for that detailed post Natalie!! Its still not loading up from when you turn it on however after you've logged in like 10-20 seconds later it comes up without having to open CC so it is an improvement.

Ok, good, we are making progress. Try a Clean Start to determine if there is a start up program preventing the AlienFX to start.

from my experience this is caused by the keyboard motherboard connector for alienfx (thinner ribbon I believe) not being connected all the way.

Reinstalled, did the regedit, still happens. As soon as we boot into Windows and the AlienFX background app starts, everything's all good. It's just up until that point only part of the keyboard will illuminate.

And yes, I can confirm for my m17x as well that it doesn't happen if I run a basic theme of only one color.

Tried clean start not successful any more tips? I don't know much about computers but I think its got to do with maybe the bios. Maybe it only saves a certain amount of actions which is why its okay on basic but when its more advanced it loads only 2 sections of the keyboard.
Littleone how would I check the wire? I doubt its that personally because once windows loads up it works like 10 seconds later. So it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem but I could be wrong.

IIRC, if you are trying to run a very complex theme in AlienFX with pulsing/flashing/lots of varying colours, sometimes it is just "system overload" and it crap's out. I don't know of any fix for it just that I do remember reading about it here on NBR a good while back....as the FX works with a less complex theme, it might not be something that can be fixed.

Another thing to maybe check is that Microsoft .NET Framework 4 is up to date along with any windows updates as if they are not, it can hinder Command Centre.

Yeaaah I think your right Stevie, was still hoping that there might be a fix for it and tried updating framework but was unsuccessful :/
