I need a new hard drive for my M17x. The 320 is not big enough. I don't want to have to install everything again so I thought I'd use a cloning software. I want to know, can I use a cloning software and say go from a 320gb to a 750gb? I know probably a dumb question, but did a google search and came up empty. One more question, will a 1T hard drive fit in the M17x R1? Anyone tried. I'd like to get either a 750 or a 1T for it. I only have 30gb of space left on the current drive.

I know you'll hear this again and again but do a reinstall...a pain but you'll be glad you did.
As for 1tb, no it will not fit as it is 12.5mm, I'm almost certain that only 9.5mm drives fit, so your 750gb drive will fit just fine. -

the m17x supports 2 HDDs (even three if you don't want to use your optical drive inside anymore).
Why won't you keep your 320Gb HDD as a windows and app drive and add a second larger drive for your data/games etc.
Or add a SSD as your boot drive your system will be a lot faster and add a second larger one.
The 1Tb HDDs are 12.5mm and the only thing keeping them from fitting in the second bay of the m17x is a tiny piece of plastic.
Hope that gives you some light.

Agreed with the others. If you can swing it, SSD in the HDD0 slot, and a large HDD in the HDD1 slot. Or you can go with the 500GB Seagate Momentus XT I think which is an SSD/HDD hybrid. Or simply a faster drive for HDD0 and larger drive for HDD1. Maybe 2x750GB RAID 0? Just throwing out some options. I'm getting ready to clone my 750GB HDD storage drive to a 1TB storage drive since the 12.5mm drives will fit in the optical bay caddy convertor.
Hard drive question....
