    Hi there,

Has anyone else experienced this. I have an M17x R2 with twin hard drives in a RAID 0 configuration. The array is split into two logical drives - C Drive with 1.13 Tb and T drive with 15Gb (hosts swap file only).

My issue is that when defragging (Perfect Disk 12 or Tune Up Utilities 2011) or performing any work which requires major disc access, I find that the computer runs extremely slowly and can sometimes pause altogether.

I have run Disk Check and have even rebuilt the laptop and the array completely, but this does not seem to help. I have run the Alienware diagnostics from the CD, and these show no hard drive problems, so Alienware/Dell are unwilling to help out!

One thing I did notice was that I have 2 different makes of Hard Drive (Toshiba and Western Digital) and I am sure this is causing me the issues. However, Dell tell me that this is normal practice (first I have heard of it) and that the drives both operate at the same RPM and Seek/Access times, so should be fine.

    Any help would be appreciated.

In case it helps, I am running Win 7 Ult. 64 Bit, i7 940X Extreme Processor (at stock speed) and with 8 Gb RAM. I also have 2 Radeon 58xx cards running in Cross Fire.

    Thanks in advance
