    Hi all,

I am wondering if the m17x has support for headphones with built-in microphones like this Klipsch Earphones. I don't want those USB gaming headset because it hurts my ears and I travel a lot. I am just not sure if the m17x R4 has a jack for both earphones/mic in-one.

The built-in mic on the laptop is fine, but I'm mostly in situations where there's a lot of background noise so I want the mic to be as close to me as possible to minimize such noise.

It has 2 headphone ports and a separate mic port. You can also use one port as headphone and mic combo if you desire.

It does. Look at the specs pdf. The middle one is a headset/mic combo port. If you want a comfortable headset, I chose the Alienware Tactx Headset. The downside is they aren't noise cancelling. The upside is it has to be the most comfortable headset I have ever owned. And that is after my $200 Sony headset of 7 years broke all to pieces.

Hi, I have both the TactX and Corsair Vengeance 1500 USB headsets.

Both are nice comfortable for me and if you just want to use the built in chip and sockets the TactX all works fine.

I got the Corsair to try out Dolby Headphone 5.1 and 7.1 sound. Also the sound from the IDT chip on the R3 I had was poor so on the advice I got here I got the corsair ones and it works much better than I expected!

Both have drop down mics although the AW one can be slid internally completely out of the way.

Only other thing is the cable lengths. The AW comes with an extender cable so if you don't need all the cable it is tidier. I use a velcro cable tidy to shorten the Corsair ones.
