Just checked the Windows 8 support page for my service tag (M17x R4) and noticed a version of Command Center now appears under the applications tab, dated 28/11/2012. Previously wasn't available and had to use the Windows 7 version.

Anyone know if this, and the R4/Win8 OSD app, works on a R3 (with Win8 ofc)? I'm attending a course this week so haven't been able to test it myself.

Yeah, I just noticed the compatibility info on the download page. Looks like it will work fine on the R3.

The Win8 OSD app is listed for M17xR4 and M18xR2 only so I guess I'll skip that.

My new SSD came in the mail yesterday and I had installed Win 8 plus the newly listed CC.

I was a little dismayed that this new version of CC still requires .NET 3.5 :/

Another problem I've encountered is with Alientouch. It installs fine, but when in CC and upon clicking the Alientouch icon, it displays the error message/stack window and crashes CC. I've uninstalled and re-installed several times without any success. It's a known issue with DELL and they have a work around for it but it doesn't work.

Note, it's strange that the newest CC requires .NET 3.5 , however, Alientouch requires .NET 4.5.

Imo, DELL driver support is very unpolished.

your getting that error because you haven't installed your touch-pad drivers. ;)
