    I want to upgrade to 7970 from 580 in my M17x R3. Where do I get the heatsink and X bracket from

    So what you are saying is that you are looking at a used one without those already included... Normally sellers will include that with the sale. If all else check on Ebay or craigslist.

    AMD 7970m is not supported on the M17x R3.

    On the other hand, these are the part numbers we use for the 7970m

    Heatsink - 0MMPT
    Support Plate - 3PVGK

    Also if you can't find the 7970m x bracket then the 6970m/6990m are exactly the same, eBay tends to have heatsinks although i'm pretty sure you can just use your old heatsink ;)
