    Hello guys,

2 Hrs back I was normally browsing thorugh NBR and bam ! machine got black screen and when when I rebooted, there was a msg saying recovered from a BSOD ( Said System Service Exception after analysing the .dmp, which narrows the cause to a driver issue...).
Later when I checked my tray there was no GFE at all and rt click menu didn't show Nvidia CP too :vbeek:

First tried system restore - no luck.
Second, tried DDU and re-installed iGP drivers when I tried to install nvidia drivers, to my shock the fn+f5 (AW17 hotkey is diff from the old machines..) did boot with iGPU again no VGA adapter was there plus drivers won't install...booted back took screenshot.

Tried a pre-boot diagnostic and all passsed :vbconfused:

Finally I thought to check MXM and that didn't went smoothly, As the toolkit was not of good quality needed to be extra cautious but still it caused a bit of wear on the screwbits.
At first after repasting (first time , took a fair time period for me with those 70% IPA swabs plus artic-clean kit) with Gelid GC Extreme on GPU, and then booted back with iGPU finally I was able to see VGA under Device manager, Alas ! it was not over yet, dGPU bootup made the whole screen reddish artifacts & then after reseating the GPU back it was ok at last !!!

This was Cataclysmic, Good that I've sorted this crap out !!

I'd like to know your ideas on why the drivers went away on that BSOD and all of a sudden it required reseating while my machine was always latched onto desk with ext keyboard and mouse the whole time .

    Thankyou for the patience :vbtongue:

Edit : Did a cpu re-paste (the old paste was dried up, hotwell furnace  ) with Gelid gc extreme and the results are quite impressive... :)

Hi, I think it might be down to the quality of the MB socket. I've seen this a couple of times (although on a 120hz model I get no boot). The first time I just reseated the card, the second time I used a can of compressed air on the socket and cleaned the edge connectors with IPA swabs.

I have seen others fixing this problem with just a re-seat as well.

Maybe this was the original problem, a poor connection? Glad to hear you got it back :D.

The drivers wont be loaded if the GPU is not detected due to a bad connection with the socket.

I wanted to use EVGA Precision X but it had caused spikes in DPC latency, So I didn't. I will give a try now...Though I use MSI AB for OSD function only in both Optimus / dGPU mode it works well, Well HWInfo is also a choice but won't report real time values with Optimus, will explore more..

I've had this happen when my games have caused my computer to completely crash.. It was more down to the inf mod I think... It's strange because nothing like this ever happened with AMD lol..

I've never got a crash during gaming, I'm sure that some MXM slot issue happened with my machine...
Those crashes used to happen with my old GTX260M on M15x which was plagued card by birth..well, that's over 9000 level of BS with that card(s) - tried like a 4 replacements and Dell India don't even know what I was talking back then..Lol :vbwink:

It does seem like that's what happened. After using MSIAfterburner for a while you know which configs are safe and which aren't.
