I just ordered my Alienware M17x on the 21st and the anticipation is killing me! Any AW owners from Penang, Malaysia here? From what I've heard, Dell has a factory here, in Penang. Do they assemble the M17xs here too? If so, how long do you think it takes? It's been a week now and I'm on edge. xD

    (Btw, I'm from Penang.)

Anyways, I hope I didn't break any forum rules or whatnot by posting this thread. Also, I was wondering whether one needs a cooling pad for the M17x? I would probably be gaming 24/7 (taking a one month hiatus from work just to spend quality time with my laptop xD).

    Hey thanks Cmag. =)
Just checked out the link you posted, sweet. Looks like Malaysian-AW owners who post here are pretty hard to come by. Dx

    Off-topic:
Anyone knows how to deal with win32 Virut? I checked out several forums but the only viable way is to reformat the PC. Anyways, I ran a scan using Avast and detected a few .exe files that were infected in my external HDD, so I deleted them all. A few of them were something along the lines of systemrecovery.exe-ish. After that, I can't reformat my external HDD but I ran several tests and they came out clean.

So, the question that's been bugging me is: Can I safely transfer .iso and .avi files from my HDD to my M17x? :3

Hi dude! Always welcome new AW owners. Congrats! Hope to see you more often in NBR.

Yes, the Dell fac in Penang builds some dell models. From what i know all Precision series is assembled here. Studio, XPS and AW are assembled in China.

See my sig for delivery expectations. +/- a couple of days depending on supply of certain parts.

Man, first of all congratulations for your new laptop. I live in Cyprus and just got my m17x-r2 as well. Had to order from a friend in the US as they don't carry them officially over her if not at all. :( I also ordered a cooler because here temps go up to 42 Celsius sometimes. I use the laptop in an air conditioned room, however i want it to be feeling cool and fine all the time.
I ordered an NZXT Cryo Cooler which seems to have reappeared in the market after quite some time. I think there was scarcity in the market as it was sold out!
